WHAT NEXT??!!
News from WPCA
The WPCA AGM was held on 17th of June.
Charles attended, but other clubs attended poorly
Most members of the exec. Comm seems to have resigned
We will post the report on the BLOG
Update on our own race
This is to held on the 9th of AUGUST as a criterion race in Raithby on the same circle route as last year.
WE were informed that a speedbump has been erected on the route, might have to reasses the route
We need marshals but we also need the club members to join in the race. SEE JOHN’S LETTER
Come and measure your abilities over a half hour circle route race. It can really be a fun exercise. Get some of your friends of equal ability and race on the day.
We also need some sponsors and lucky draw prizes. Please help us as to once again give back to riding by hosting a classy event.
We are also going to get the primary school league and a team from LWANDLE to join us on the day
So, Please volunteer as a marshal for an hour or two and then RACE!!!!!
Letter from John
Dear All Members
The club is once again committed to hosting an annual race or alternatively face a heavy fine from WP Cycling. We will again host a kermesse type race using the same route as last year around Raithby. The date of the race is Sunday 9 August 2009.
In order to ensure the safety of all the cyclists we will need marshals at 7 stations around the route. As per last year we will divide the marshalling groups up into 2 sessions the first being from 08h45-12h00 and the second from 12h00-15h00. We will place a minimum of 2 marshals at each point.
Although the Wannabee members will be permitted and encouraged to enter the race itself, our first priority is to get enough marshals to assist on the day. Please will you either respond to me directly or to the club’s e-mail address confirming your availability as well requesting either session 1 or 2. If you wish to stand with anyone in particular please indicate this and where possible I will try and place people together.
As club members throughout the year we participate in various organised “fun-rides” so this is the one opportunity to give back and assist the cycling community so please give up just 3 hours of your time and help in the marshalling.
Kind regards
John Arnold
Another race
A Mountain bike race will probably also be organised by us somewhere in July.
We are short on details but will put on the BLOG as soon as we have clarity
Club rides
The outride was attended by some diehards.
We split into two groups and coffee was had afterwards
Luckily the weather cleared just after 8 as Petie predicted
Weekend rides
The club rides will still be coordinated on Saturdays and Sundays with the new starting time 07h00 at W/Stone village centre
Please ensure that you have good front and back lights on your bike. There are still some riders with very poor lights on their bikes
Mountainbike workshop
I am Dianie, owner of LadyRide Activewear. We are planning to hold a MTB workshop presented by Hannele Steyn-Kotze, a legend in MTB circles. I attach the invite to it here as well as the registration form for it. The workshop is NOT for ladies only and all beginners and intermediates are welcome. Please feel free to distribute the information to the members of your club or to contact me if you have any questions.
Regards,
Dianie
