Good day to all the Wannabees

The long weekend turned out to be quite nice for riding

Friday John took a group to Franschhoek and back and Sunday we did a reverse Polka draai

Saturday some riders pitched in the south easter and moaned on Sunday about all the ninnies that are scared of our beloved summer wind.

There are still some riders who prefer a 7 o’clock ride. Alf at his age cannot seem to get up for the 6 o’clock ride and is thus the king of the 7o’clockkers. Thanks for looking after that group Alf.

Once again a taxi has managed to cause a crash which has left a group of riders injured and one rider dead. I have not seen the detail of the accident but this seems to be the background. We have also experienced this locally where they rush past you and then cut in front of you to pick up passengers.

We have had a few nominations for committee members. Please make sure that your nominated person is a member of the club and that he/she is willing to be a committee member.

Remember my view that we need new blood and that a big committee is better than a few who make all the decisions

We shall have a meeting soon when the AGM date will be set

We shall also soon start with the early morning training sessions.

Another great riding weekend.

Big groups out at 06h00 for the first early ride. Saw a big group that seemed to have started at the old 07h00 time.

Sunday big groups went out for DC LSD rides. Really great to see all enjoying the outings.

Quite a few riders went to Karoo 2 coast. Have not had any news but am sure the ride was good. Heard it was a misty start but cleared up later.

There will be no M/Bike outride this weekend so pitch on your road bike and I am sure you will find company from Friday to Sunday starting at 06h00

Once again a reminder for nominations for new members to the committee. You can nominate yourself as well.

AGM date not fixed yet but will be posted soon. Please attend. If you have anything that you feel we should discuss, please notify us.
We have as committee been functioning for two years. We need new blood in the committee. Please help us fill the positions. I do feel that it will be healthy to get new ideas into the system. You do not have to be a speed freak to be on the committee, we need anyone with the will to assist. Please nominate a friend!! Or someone you feel could add value.

Summer is here, groups are bigger and new faces have joined the rides.

If it is your first ride, please introduce yourself to the caller so as to become part of the group and get to know the other riders.

The idea of the weekend rides is that they should be LSD rides. The fast riders should be considerate to the slower riders. Race up the hill and wait or ride back down the hill and fetch the back markers. This weekend the rides were a mad dash for speed which left riders scattered all over the route. This is not what it is all about.

Sunday we had a wonderful M/Bike out ride in the Stellenbosch area. A group of 20 plus were all catered for. Some 2 hrs and others up to 5 hours in the saddle

Good day to all the Wannabees

This weekend was a real Cape set of two. Saturday was windy and a strong North westerly and Sunday a beautiful day for cycling. This was wonderful for the first ten ks and then I suffered through the other 100ks. With Andre and John in charge, a stiff pace was set (I think that it was an EGO thing because the ladies in the group were setting the pace most of the time)

Mandy, the Gestapo general, had her group out both days. Saturday she arrives with no shoes !! and Sunday fails to pitch……a real case of getting cold feet??
Thanks for this bit of info from one of my spies.

John has found that a monthly (at least) golf tour is the best medicine for enduro cycle training. I hope to soon take some lessons from him.

Good to see Smiley, Alistair and Hannes Titus on the road. Special thanks to Smiley for assistance up the hills

On the web and Blog we shall publish a letter from CSA regarding PPA and CSA membership. Read it carefully and if you do not understand get hold of one of the comm.. members who do not understand as well. Note that the CSA and PPA yearly membership times do not run from same months.

Saw some M/bike riders coming back from the Schaapensberg route. Arrie says the trail is looking great.

MTB outride Mooiberge Sunday 12-09 at 07.30

MTB outride will be from Mooi berge on Sunday 12th September at 07:30.

This is for young, middle aged, not so young, fit, getting fit, not so fit, all shapes and sizes. The route is undulating with fantastic scenery, single track, jeep track etc.

Good training for all the DC entrants and also for non-DC entrants.
