Hello alle Wannabees

Baie fietsry aktiwiteit die afgelope naweek.

Dag twee van die Wine2whale roete is gery, ‘n ander groep het in Elgin die Lebanon roetes gaan ry, Donderdag aand was daar ‘n nite ride en dan nog die EPIC.

Heelparty Wannabees teen die hange van die STEENBRAS pompstasie pad gekry wat almal na die eerste skof van die EPIC gaan kyk het.

Jack Ackerman and myself also then went over to the first water point to see the riders and encourage our local entrants.

Getting fit for the EPIC is one thing, having a bike that is well prepared is another. I am sure that some people do not realise that the horse is as, if not more important than the rider. We helped a rider with two cuts in his tyre, who had used both his gas canisters but did not have a spare tube. Two tubes and three gas canisters later we had him on his bike still trying to make the cut-off time of the first stage.

Allways be on a well prepared bike with enough spares incase of a breakdown. Make sure that your pump works.

The time spent watching all the riders and the rest of the EPIC vibe is something not to miss. Follow the race on the official website and the real-time positions with their google-earth application. Or go watch it live at one of the spectator points.

This coming weekend is the family ride. See BLOG for details. Prizes for some lucky ARGUS riders.

Last weekend we had a good attendance on the club rides. PLEASE COME WITH GOOD LIGHTS AND A SAFETY CONCIOUS MIND. It is dark and cold. Still some ‘three abreast riding’ in the groups, let’s get this sorted out, specially amongst the racers in the front.

The ARGUS race results are still missing some names. If you are a paid up member who rode the ARGUS and your name is not on the result sheet, contact us on the club e-mail, give your time as well and we can update the list.

Remember that all the committee work is done in private time by members with a fulltime day job. Please help by constructive criticism or just help us fix the niggle with positive input.
