Good day to all the Wannabees

With Saturday being washed out it seems that a lot of riders were keen to get on the road on Sunday

John took a big crowd out towards Franschhoek and Mandy took her team to Kleinmond. So serious miles were put in, hope all went without incident

This left only four of us for the Mountain bike outride. This was great as I was the slowest and could determine the pace. Once again, after riding for two and a quarter hours through the farmlands, we realise that there cannot be many places to beat our winelands area.

This is a slow time for news it seems as the boring LSD rides are what is needed for the DC. So….keep on peddling and enjoy. Some news from theses rides will be great.

Thanks for those who give some feedback and comments. Keep it coming

Good day to all the Wannabees

As much as last weekend was great for cycling, this one past was horrible, except for guys like Ralph and Clayton who probably enjoyed an outing in the storm.

DC training took a back seat, so look on the website for training rides as well as for the mountain bike outride on Sunday. Ralph and Anton in charge of that.

Lots of interesting links from the website and blog. If any member knows of an interesting site, drop us an e-mail for sharing with other club members

Not much else today except to apologise for the late BUZZ last week. Had the laptop serviced and did not notice that my outbox was not working

Note Michel is overseas so the blog might not be updated for a few weeks, follow news on the website

Good day to all the Wannabees

Michel’s father passed away after a long sickbed. We wish him and his family well and reassure them of our prayers in this difficult time

Saturday many WANNABEES competed in the Burger M/Bike race in windy conditions

Some die hards did a Wannabee ride via Bottelary road on Saturday morning. Most of us decided that the wind was too strong and stayed in bed.

But Sunday the wind settled and 14 members pitched for the easy M/Bike ride in wonderful conditions. This is really what it is all about for the slow ride. We did close on 3 hours of rolling hills in a jovial atmosphere topped up by coffee at Dulce’s.

Even Henri seemed to enjoy the slow ride. A spy told me that while we were drinking coffee, Henri was riding up and down Lord Charles hill just to get his heart rate up for a change. Thanks to Ralph and Anton for keeping things together

If you are not confidant on your M/Bike, follow the program on the BLOG/WEB and join the monthly slow ride.

Marianne finished first in her age category in the 30 k race, but had 3 small ‘falls’ on the Sunday ride (which I am not allowed to mention.) Well done Marianne.

The Schapensberg trail will soon be open for club members to ride. Please contact a committee member before setting out on this route till further notice.

The next m/bike outride will be from Grabouw Country Club. Watch for dSetails on the WEB.

We get quite a few reminders of races via our e-mail. We will attach them to the web.

If you are keen on races and outings, remember to look at the PPA program, Amarider and also at the bicycle shops. Upcoming events are in Riebeeck kasteel and the Makadas events.

Our next committee meeting will be on the 16th of August. If you have any suggestions or anything to be discussed by the committee, please drop me a line
